I'm a simple man

Sometimes, it's the simple props that are the most fun:

Even a complex prop like a cop car can be made simple:

......................................................

THE TRUTH ABOUT ANIMATION

This is a quote by a good friend of mine in the biz, who is actually a totally happy, upbeat, successful guy. He is also an awesome cynic. I'm not bitter (for reals!), I just find this too funny, and 100% acurate. Remember, deep inside every cynic is a frustrated optimist. :)

NOTE: This post contains a bad word.

WHY? Why, do you have to ruin it for all of us young up-and coming "talents"? Next time please keep your filthy quotes to yourself. (Also you only eat it 99% of the time and the other 1% is spent surfing the web.) Sticking it to the man!

Awesome! Do you accept commissions? I've got an idea for a super robot with 20 arms and transforms into 3 planes, 6 cars, a sea-doo, and a car lighter.

I look forward to your response, Mr.B!

Chris

Nice selection of various prop designs. It always pains me on the particular show that I work on when i get asked to design a bucket and spade for the 200th time for the 200th episode... Glad to see the gig is still fun for you ;-D

Bada bling!

Really great stuff. But it has been great for the last 10 years. Really bored with the well thought out, innovative and smart designs. Bring on the junk. Show me the monkey crap!

Ps

Thanks for being a good blog-buddy.

Hi, gang-

Wow; Here I thought I wuz just posting some simple little drawings and everyone seems to really be digging them! Maybe next time I post some props I'll put up some more robots and crazy tech stuff...

Minja- Post #1! Lookitt you! Good seeing you & the bug again; Thanx for tha goodies!!

Brad- Yeah, well, I guess a "young fella" like yerself has just gotta learn the ropes. and it's .5% web surfing + .5% playing Nintendo.

Steve- I totally did one just like that on PPG; It aired only ONCE, and I think that was the week you guys were driving out here to L.A. Too bad you missed it.

Kelsey- Sad thing is, I'll never know if that's in reference to the quote, or if you got your IM window mixed up:(

Gene- Down there? .... you mean Paraguay?

Pringle- I bet some Disney animator from the 30's said it first.

Bauza!- Hmmm... but you already live in the house Danner designed!

Alessandra- My people come from Ireland! Let me know how many Battles are in the phone book. (We come from Sligo.... long ago)

Mr. Kane- I just saw your new art blog! Much coolness!

JoBling- Thanks for dropping by once again. Bucket & Spade will now be the new robot detective show that I will be creating for Nickelodeon. Your kids will make you buy them the merchandise. ;)

Vince- After all these years, you've already seen all the crap! The well thought-out part is a (successful) illusion. As for monkey crap, didn't you read this??? Nice to see you going full-speed on the blogging, brother. Keep it up!

That's a good one.. how true. Here is one of my favs..

"The T.V. business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free and good men die like dogs" - Hunter S. Thompson

Jo Bling said...

If I see so much as a hint of Bucket and Spade related tomfoolery on the gogglebox I'll be sending my team of crack lawyers to you Mr Battle.

OK.

Maybe my mum, then...

:-D

Actually, we might be ON to something..... I can see it now! Shall have to draw those two characters and whack em onto my blog!

Mukpuddy said...

Cool designs dude, really like the police car!

That quote made me laugh out loud... so true!!

thanx for commenting on my blog, but most importantly thanx because I would have never found your blog. I really dig the simplicity and attention to detail at the same time in your prop designs. really nice man, great line quality aswell, I will definitely be checking in.

Darryl Young said...

Great designs Chris, and an even greater quote (which just happens to be true by the way).

I refuse to believe that something as fun and entertaining to watch as animated cartoonies could be so painful and stiffling to creative people.

Obviously, the quote you published must be a fake!

Everyone knows that cartoonists are the happiest people in the world, working only a few short hours a week for incredible amounts of wealth, while cheerful little elves serve them cool drinks at their desks.

oh shit man that is hilarious - fucking PERFECT!
